Club meetings offer our members other opportunities to serve. While traditional attendance requirements are strict, (members are expected to meet weekly and share a meal) we do observe a liberal "make up" policy. Under this policy, our members receive attendance credit when they visit other Rotary International Clubs or participate with Rotary eClub One, Rotary International’s first sanctioned Internet club. This "compulsory" attendance not only builds friendship but allows members to interactively build and participate in community projects which offer local, regional and International impact. Each Club’s "classification" program insures a cross section of professionals; business owners and community leaders are involved. Each week at Rotary there is a program designed to keep members and visiting Rotarians alike well informed as to what is going on in the community, nation and world.
Participation in Rotary allows its members service opportunity within the community, not just through fund raising, contributions and other philanthropic out reach, but through active participation in projects. Locally, Rotary Point has benefited annually from service projects that morph quickly into "Family of Rotary" social events when the work is done. Through Rotary, member's "individual giving plans" can easily be extended to have an internationally impact. In 1985, Rotary launched the PolioPlus program to protect children worldwide from the cruel and fatal consequences of polio. This effort was later extended onto an effort to eradicate polio. Today, there are only four regions of the world where polio is likely to be contracted in the normal population. This astounding fete was made possible by millions of Rotarians world wide that have under taken countless fund raisers and made critical contributions to that effort over an entire generation. Yet, local projects are entertained annually by each club, usually with a mixture of "sweat equity" and financial resources.
You are invited to join us at any of our weekly meetings. For more information, visit our "members" page.
