Youth Programs
Pinhook Rotary puts a special emphasis on Youth. Rotary International makes a number of programs available to the community, and we, in turn, offer to connect the community to these programs. Listed below are a number of such programs. If you are interested in supporting them, or would like to nominate candidate for participation in such programs, feel free to contact any of our members.
Interact clubs Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 14 to 18. Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance, but are expected to be self-governing and self-supporting. This self-governance and financial independence makes it possible for the members to choose and carry out service projects that the youth care about. Each year, Interact clubs are expected to complete at least two community service projects, one of which furthers international understanding and goodwill. Through these efforts, Interactors develop a network of friendships with local and overseas clubs and learn the importance of community service.
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is Rotary's leadership training program for young people. RYLA participants can be 14-18 year of age. They attend a four day summer camp emphasizing leadership, citizenship, and personal growth which is aimed to provide an effective training experience for selected youth and potential leaders. RYLA encourage leadership of youth by youth. In the process we recognize publicly young people who are rendering service to their communities. Each Rotary Club in District 6200 can sponsor one "camper".
